From the UK: Childhood Type 1 Diabetes Tied to Higher Risk of Later Psychiatric Diagnoses

A childhood diagnosis of type 1 diabetes (T1D) may increase risk of later psychiatric conditions, according to a study published online July 17 in Nature Mental Health.

Tomáš Formánek, from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, and colleagues used Czech national register data to identify children (aged ≤14 years) with T1D between 1994 and 2007. Risk of psychiatric disorders up to 24 years later was assessed.
